Can the 'Keys to Music Theory' eBook series  be purchased on Amazon?

Is "Keys to Music Theory 1" useful for Grade 5 Theory?

Yes, absolutely.  It provides you with the route from beginner to Grade 5 level in several elements of Music Theory:

  1. notation of both rhythm and pitch

  2. key structure and scales for Major and Minor, and Chromatic scales

  3. all types of intervals

  4. time and metre - Simple, Compound and Irregular, Duple, Triple and Quadruple to include irregular beaming.

This book lays the foundations upon which the other technical elements of Grade 5 theory can then be built.

Are the two books ‘Keys to Music Theory 1A’ identical on Apple and Android?

No - but they are very similar indeed:

  • On the page they look all but identical, and the information within is essentially the same.

  • The Apple book has additional sound which the Android does not, and to make up for this the Android has two fun practical exercise suggestions that do not appear in the Apple book.

  • Both books have the interactive popover buttons, and both have the ‘bold blue words’ throughout which take the reader to the glossary.

  • Both Apple and Android have lots of quiz questions throughout, and where the Apple questions are somewhat interactive, the Android ones are not.  However in both cases the correct answers are immediately accessible.

Are the two books ‘Quiz Yourself on Music Theory’ identical on Apple and Android?

Not ‘identical’ but like with ‘1A’ they very similar indeed.

  • The questions test you on the same material in both books.

  • Whereas the Apple book uses interactivity in the questions the Android does not.

  • The answers are immediately accessible in both books.

  • The revision material is laid out as similarly as possible given the difference in features between the two platforms.

  • The glossary and popover buttons are fully accessible in both Apple and Android.
